Fall is in the air....

This past weekend we finally got chilly weather! Both Saturday and Sunday were in the upper 50s/lower 60s throughout the day. Of course, the quick change from 80s to 60s meant that Kaitlyn had the sniffles for a few days. This didn't stop her from enjoying some time at the park!

Saturday afternoon we headed out to Mt. Trashmore park. We've posted about this park before; it's basically an old landfill that has been capped and dirt and grass grown on it. Its' high elevation makes it a nice place to fly a kite, or get a view of the surrounding area. At the bottom of the "mountain" there is a new playground. It was packed by the time we arrived!

Kaitlyn likes to run around playgrounds; even the areas for the "big kids". Even though she's too young to climb or swing from the bars, she does like to inspect the whole area!

Here she is drumming on some seats:

While she was checking out her surroundings, we had a quick photo op!

With Daddy

With Mommy

She thinks sitting on Daddy's shoulders is hilarious! She giggles every single time!

Here she is running around the play area. This area is designated for 5-12 year olds, but since Kaitlyn can't read yet anyway she decided to set forth! The ramp leads up pretty high; but she doesn't seem to be worried about the height at all! Luckily she also doesn't try to jump off at those points that have high ladders or slides yet.

While Daddy followed Kaitlyn up the play area, Mommy ran on the outside to snap this photo and the one above it. She's fast so it is hard to get non-blurry shots of her hard at play!

After the playground, we trekked up the side of the mountain of trash to get a view from the top. Of course this also meant a stop for snacking, then more photo taking!

Kisses from Mt. Trashmore!

Kaitlyn was interested in the edge of the "mountain", so we had to watch her so she didn't roll down the side. She saw older kids going down the side, however! We think she may need to wait a few more years before attempting that!

Taking in the view
Checking out the path and reservoir below; Daddy keeping an eye out!

Rain was on it's way so we headed back down towards the parking lot. The clouds were very interesting that day!

Here's a sweet sight; Daddy and Daughter walking side by side on the trail.

Kaitlyn loves being able to walk freely. She does ask for us to carry her sometimes when she is tired or still getting warmed up to a new area. Our little explorer likes her freedom 90% of the time.

 ***********
Since this was the first weekend of October, it was time to decorate for Halloween! We don't have much yet for Halloween decor (Christmas decor is Mommy's addiction), but as Kaitlyn grows there will be surely much more to add!

Kaitlyn was very interested in the window cling pumpkins; she would take them off the windows and replace them over and over. How to keep a toddler busy for at least 10 minutes:

Late Sunday morning, we headed to Fun Forest park, Kaitlyn's favorite. Unfortunately, Mommy got the date wrong and thought that the dog event there was Saturday when it really was on Sunday! Luckily there weren't many people parked near the playground, since the bulk of the event was at the other end of the park. Kaitlyn has been around a few dogs, but not sure how she would react to multitudes of very large dogs!
It was very chilly Sunday morning; only in the upper 50s. This meant that the playground wasn't too busy yet either! With our sweaters on, we had full run of the play area!

Once again, Kaitlyn was ready to explore the big kid area (she thinks she's a big kid maybe?). She knows this park very well so she was at the top fairly quick.

After running up and down several times, she was ready for a relaxing time on the swings.

It was getting close to lunchtime and naptime, so she tired out pretty quick. On the way out of the park she ran up on the wooden stage they have near the entrance and did a little dance for us!

To end our weekend, we had dinner with Grandma and Papa at a local pizza/pasta restaurant, YNot Pizza. Kaitlyn loves their gelato. Our girl is a big pasta eater too, so she had several pieces of penne and chicken from Grandma's chicken parmesan. As little as she is, she can really put away some carbs!

Hopefully the next few weekends will be cool and sunny so we can enjoy more Fall fun!
