Christmas 2010

Kaitlyn's first Christmas was quite an event! Christmas is always big in the Legeckis household, and with a baby, well it's just that much bigger!

Christmas Eve we went to Kaitlyn's great-grandparents' house (Christal's grandparents).

She enjoyed all of the gifts, but really loved playing in the tissue paper!

She opened many gifts that evening; it was a new experience for her but she got the hang of it quickly!

The next morning we woke bright and early to see what Santa had brought our good girl!

Santa came! Eggnog and cookies were eaten!

Kaitlyn's stocking hung on the wall, the magical Santa key next to it! (We don't have a chimney for him to climb down)

Our lovely Christmas tree and all of the gifts underneath:

After checking out her stocking, Kaitlyn opened her gifts from Mommy and Daddy. She's a pro at gift bags!

Daddy opening a gift.

Kaitlyn's big present was her first play kitchen. She had to give it a taste test, and loved it!

Christmas Day we went over to Grandma and Papa's (Christal's Mom and Dad) for more gift opening!

Kaitlyn received her first "cell phone". And so it begins!

She also received a Winnie-the-Pooh walker. She is so petite that her feet don't reach the ground even at the lowest setting!

Kaitlyn's gifts from her Aunt Heather and Uncle Mark (Christal's brother and sister) included a beautiful Hawaiian quilt, and Scout the pup!

Mommy and Daddy relaxing Christmas afternoon. It was a busy day!

Kaitlyn can roll from back to tummy at this point; though not quite smoothly yet. She did roll over to grab her Elmo teether though!

Kaitlyn received a Learning Driver toy from her Great-Aunt Connie. Now she's ready to go,go,go!

As if the day wasn't eventful enough, that night something magical happened. It snowed! It is so rare to get snow in Virginia to begin with. To get it Christmas Day is something unheard of! It snowed through the night, and by morning there were several inches on the ground! Of course that limited our travels, but it was beautiful to look at.

Looking back: Winter arrives!

December was a pretty crazy month, with Christmas rapidly approaching. Probably the biggest surprise we encountered was that it snowed-twice even! We rarely get snow as it is, and when we do it is usually in January or later.

Of course, Kaitlyn had to go out and experience her first snow!

It was really lovely, and our Christmas lights were like sprinkles on frosting that night.

Early in the month, Grammy and Grandpa Joe came up to visit.

Kaitlyn got to wear her winter coat when we went to Colonial Williamsburg; it was a very chilly day!

Our future video game player trying to figure out the controller.

Grandma and Papa bought her a Bass Pro fishing hat. Her tiny head needs a little while to grow into it.

Kaitlyn looks alot like her Daddy. Here you can really see it!

Happy 6 months Kaitlyn! At her 6month appointment, she was 13lbs 7 oz and 24 inches long!

Looking back: November 2010

Kaitlyn turned 5 months old in November.

She had begun eating purees in mid-October. Mom started off making her own purees, but she seemed to like the prepackaged stuff better...hmmm.

She became stronger in her torso; she could stay up in one place for a few seconds if we placed her there.

Even though she was so small, we were able to get her in an Exersaucer if we wrapped a towel around her waist to keep her steady. She liked to play in it fora few minutes at a time.

In mid-November, Mommy and Grandma went to a Christmas Craft Show at the high school nearby. Here Kaitlyn had her first encounter with Santa Claus.

However, after a minute she got upset that she was no longer in Grandma's arms. Poor Santa took it in stride; she didn't get coal in her stocking this year!

At this point Kaitlyn was beginning her transition to the crib. Up until this time, she was sleeping in a bassinet in Mom and Dad's room. Here she is sleeping in the bassinet.

The plan was to move her bassinet into her room; then after she was comfortable no longer sleeping in our room, getting her into the crib. It took quite a while but we made it there after a month or so.

One of Mommy's friends made several T-shirts using puffy paint to decorate them. Here Kaitlyn is modeling one:

We didn't get many photos at Thanksgiving, but we did get a picture of Daddy and Kaitlyn, showing off her Thanksgiving bib.

And of course, Kaitlyn always loves a good time with Uncle Mark!

Kaitlyn came along to a friend's house for a party, and spent some time lounging in the bean bag chair....ah, comfy!

Kaitlyn's First Halloween

Even though she was too young to enjoy candy this year, we still gave Kaitlyn a taste of a fun holiday-Halloween! We got her a cute little ladybug costume. She seemed to like her costume; though the wings were an issue. We had to take her costume off anytime we put her into the carseat, because the wings were sewn on and were too big to fit in there. After "trick-or-treating" at Grandma and Papa's house, then Granny and Papa's, she was over it.

But we did manage to get some very cute pictures of our little bug!

Kaitlyn was given the go-ahead to try some solids (puree)  at her 4 month appointment earlier in October. It took awhile for her to get the hang of it, but she did begin to eat many of the fruit blends. Not a fan of the veggie purees, though.

For Halloween, she had a cute themed bib to catch the mess she was making.

That evening, she wore her very cute Halloween puppy jammies!

She is such a petite baby that she actually could wear them almost until Christmastime!

Of course, she just had to try on Mommy's kitty ears!

Kaitlyn was pretty interested in the kids that came to our house for Trick-or-Treating. We had a decent turnout. Can't wait for Kaitlyn's turn to go out!

Looking back: October continued

Kaitlyn gets visits from Grandpa Joe and Grammy often. It's a long trek for them but she is always so glad to see them!

She has a lot of catching up to do with them each time she sees them!

October means Mommy and Daddy's birthdays, so Kaitlyn got to party with the family.

She gave a little preview of her Halloween costume; ladybug ears. Her head is so tiny!

One of Kaitlyn's favorite places to hang out is under the pin oak tree in our backyard. She giggles and coos at the leaves as they move in the breeze. She's our little Lorax!

The tree:

Hanging out in the backyard always makes for a good time!

We celebrated Daddy's birthday at Rancho Grande, one of our favorite Mexican restaurants. The staff sang him a Happy Birthday and we had fried ice cream!
Kaitlyn wanted to have a little taste...

Of course we didn't actually give her any, but she did find the spoon intriguing.
She did, however, lick Papa's glass.
